A Message from the Principal

Shahmeem Rajak

Principal, Al-Furqan School

“We would love for our students to leave Al-Furqan every Sunday inspired, curious, and confident.”

As salamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Alhamdulillah, we are now into the 2026–2027 school year at Al-Furqan School. Firstly, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the parents, students, and staff. Whether you are returning to, or joining our school for the first time, we are truly grateful to Allah (swt) for bringing us together.

Al-Furqan School is more than just a place of weekend classes. It is a place where our students grow in faith, build strong moral character, and form lifelong relationships rooted in Islamic values.

Our vision for this year is to help every student become more conscious of Allah (swt), learn the practical beauty of the sunnah of Rasool ﷺ, and feel proud of their Muslim identity. Through the teachings of Islam, our students need to be able to thrive in a non-Muslim country and live their lives according to Islamic principles. We would love for our students to leave Al-Furqan every Sunday inspired, curious, and confident.

For the school year to be successful, teamwork between teachers, students, and parents is imperative.

Jazakum Allahu khairan to our parents for entrusting us with their children, and for committing to prioritize Islamic education in their busy lives.

May Allah (swt) bless our students with useful knowledge, grant patience and wisdom to our dedicated teachers and other volunteers, and fill our entire school community with barakah.

Warmest regards and du‘as,

Shahmeem RajakPrincipal, Al-Furqan School

Rules & Procedures

Policies for students and parents

Daily schedule

School starts at 9:45 AM and ends at 1:20 PM. Punctuality is important — please make sure your child arrives on time and stays until dismissal. As part of the curriculum, students are required to stay for Dhuhr prayer.

See the full Sunday schedule →

Tardy policy

A tardy slip is issued to students who arrive after 10:00 AM. A warning is given to students who are tardy more than three times without an excuse.

School uniform

Al-Furqan School’s dress code is designed to encourage Islamic modesty. Please make sure your child wears the Al-Furqan School uniform shirt provided by the school.

Attendance policy

Students are expected to attend school every Sunday. If your child is absent, please send a note upon return or email [email protected]. Include your child’s name, grade, the date of absence, and the reason — the reason is required for the absence to be considered excused.

The school emails parents after three or more unexcused absences. The committee may then cancel the registration to give waitlisted students a chance to attend.

Student pick-up

Student safety is one of Al-Furqan School’s primary concerns. School dismisses at 1:20 PM, so please be there by that time.

  • KG–2nd grade: students remain in their classes until their parents come for them. Please wait in the lobby until the bell rings, then pick up your child from the classroom.
  • 3rd and 4th grade: students go to the musallah at dismissal. Plan to be in the musallah by then, and please take charge of your children after 1:20 PM — all students must be supervised at all times.

Praying Dhuhr after school is required as part of the curriculum, so please plan to pray with your children.

Early pick-up

If you need to pick up your child before 1:20 PM, please sign your child out at the office. To pick up during lunch (12:00–12:30 PM), send the school a written note in advance and your child will be ready in the office.

Please do not take your child directly from the gym or playground during lunch without signing out at the office.

Food sharing

Some Al-Furqan students have food allergies or sensitivities, so parents, teachers, and others may not share any food with students without permission from the office.

Carpool & campus safety

Please follow the directions of our security personnel while driving through campus.

  • Traffic on campus is one way: enter at Gate 1 on Atwater Street and exit at Gate 3 on Ligon Street. Do not use Gate 2 (the middle gate).
  • Drop children off on the right-hand side, inside campus in front of the main building — never in the street.
  • Do not move the cones or load and unload in handicapped or reserved spaces; it backs up traffic at Gate 1.
  • Keep traffic moving after drop-off, and don’t cut ahead of the car in front of you.
  • The speed limit on campus is 15 mph during school hours.

The Meaning of Our Name

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَالَمِينَ نَذِيرًا

“Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner.”
